D.N.C. Sues McCain Over Campaign Loan

advertisement

The Democratic National Committee filed suit today in U.S. District Court in Washington challenging Senator John McCain's decision to opt out of the federal public financing system in his primary race.

In an ongoing — and complicated — drama between the D.N.C. and Mr. McCain, the Democratic committee said that Mr. McCain should not have been permitted to forgo federal funds in his primary race since he had used the promise of receiving those funds as collateral for a bank loan to his campaign.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

HA! Maybe this timing was planned, could the Democrats really be that sneaky? Having Obama drop out, expecting McCain's response, and then filing this case? McCain could very well have broken the law, this is not a frivolous case as the RNC asserts.

For an interesting analysis check out my article on this case HERE.

I hope McCain gets caught up in this big time. I don't know why this isn't bigger news.

Because folks are busy being all ruffled up over non-issues like campaign symbols and pledges Obama never signed.

Have you checked out that mole fest over there on the Dobson article? There are over 400 comments on two articles about Dobson. What is the deal?

Are these the bloggers that McCain and the RNC have unleashed to attack the blogs with this crap?

Yeah, I just posted a link on there to the Reuters article from February where Dobson dissed McCain! I hope that he convinces all of the Christian Conservatives to stay home on Election Day!

Stay away from the Dobson articles. It's all a bunch of psychos talking IN ALL CAPS about how Obama is either a secret Muslim or a Marxist Militant Christian. Even though that last one doesn't make sense, since in Marxism there is no God.

There Dobson supporters started coming out of the wood works and when you (as I did) point out that Dobson does the same stuff that he's claiming Obama has done they either ignore it, or go back the the Marxist b.s.

So he made a promise to the bank he didn't keep. So what?

I'm pretty sure all the promises he's making us ... he'll keep.

hahahahahahahaha.

So he made a promise to the bank he didn't keep. So what?

Well, the issue is that this security he promised to the Bank may have created an obligation, under FEC Rules, that he accept the Public Financing System money rather than withdraw from it. That is what is being litigated.

It has more to do with the LAW than the Bank. Certainly the bank can lend anyone any amount of money it sees fit to lend to, and can sue for fraud when it feels it is necessary, which it might have a case here if McCain fails to repay the loan, but that is a collateral issue to what is being litigated.

The litigation involves whether or not McCain broke the FEC rules that he holds so near and dear to his heart, allegedly. He helped create these rules and now he is going to break them!?? That's the issue.

On top of that, he has the audacity to scold Obama over the same issue? At least Obama was never in danger of breaking the Law when he decided to Opt out.

I figured sarcasm was at play, even in Superman's case, but I wanted to make sure people didn't take it the wrong way, or misunderstand the issue here.

Thanks for the compliments.
